Unless you know for sure...

Training has been going really great!

The last time I blogged was Day 4. I am now on Day 15 and still hanging in there!

Last week looked like this:
Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - 1.5 miles, cross trained
Wednesday - 3 miles
Thursday - Rest
Friday - 4 miles
Saturday - Cross trained

This week:
Monday - off (hubby on shift)
Tuesday - 3.5 miles
Wednesday - 6 mile bike ride (woke up super queazy...)
Thursday - 3.5 miles

(Tuesday's time: 39:53; excited to see that I'm going faster!)

Friday - Rest
Saturday - HOLY CRAP I have to run 5 miles. It's suppose to be in the 70's this weekend! That's crazy awesome - for North Dakota!

With all of the cardio I've been doing, I'm a little frustrated with the scale these days. I know it's because of what eat, or what I don't eat. It's something that I obviously need to work on more. I try to tell myself it's 70% diet, 30% exercise. Well, I have the exercise down - it's time to start logging my eating habits.

Now...onto the title of this post. So, we just had a vendor stop in my work to see how things are going, on his way out he walks past my desk and says, as he is rubbing his stomach and looking at mine, "what's going on with this?" (assuming I'm pregnant) - - Are you KIDDING me? Seriously. I could NOT believe what I had just heard. There is definite etiquette that needs to be addressed here....I just laughed it off and said, "nothing. just fat." Then he proceeded to say, "ya, I have 20lbs to lose, too. What are you doing about it?" - Um, excuse me sir, but are you kidding me right now. I wanted to just look at him and say, "just go. you are in way too deep." I then told him I was training for a half marathon. The look on his face was like "ya right." - - - Seriously....Unless the woman has a t-shirt on that says "BABY ON BOARD" - Keep your mouth shut.

Anyways....see ya next week....

Day 4 Training

Well...I made it 4 full miles.

I know it wasn't super fast or anything, but I'm okay with that.
I met Claire at the gym this morning...she was a little late getting there, so I started before her. It was so hot in the fitness center. I thought at one point I was going to faint.

This weekend, Mr. G and I are taking the kids to a waterpark and staying in a hotel. It'll be a fun getaway. We keep saying we are going to do it, but never take the time to do it. The kids have been packed and ready to go since Sunday night when we told them the plans!

Training for the weekend: Saturday - swimming at the waterpark
Sunday - 30 min cross training

I'm actually looking forward to next week's training. I never thought I'd be able to run a Half Marathon. Pretty excited to at least try! Ha

Happy Weekend Blog Friends!

Half Marathon Training

My friend, Claire, is turning 50 on April 11. On her 'bucket list' is to run a Half Marathon. So, being the awesome friend that I am (ha ha), agreed to run it with her. YIKES. I'm kinda freakin' out about it. I've never really ran further than 4 miles. I've only ran a handful of 5ks...and I wasn't in the lead on any of those! We searched a lot of the training plans that are out there...from Cool Running, Hal Higdon, Marathon Rookie to Jeff Galloway. We decided on the Hal Higdon plan. Neither one of us are pushing for a goal time. We just want to finish and hopefully not have to walk any of it.

We had planned on starting to train on Monday. We had a big snow storm come in on Sunday night, so I ended up not making the first day of training...wow does that sound like I'm making excuses already!?! To catch up on training, I had to run alone on Tuesday night - which totally sucked as I stared at the clock waiting to be done with my 3 mile run. Here's proof that I ran it...slowly. But still, I ran farther than the people still sitting on their couches, right?

Wednesday morning, Claire and I met at the gym for Day 2 of training. 3 miles....we had a warm-up included in the distance, so I ran a little further to make sure I put in the full 3 miles.

Thursday...today....is our scheduled REST day. My legs really need it. Every time I get up from my desk I try to stretch my legs as much as I can. Wow are they ever sore!! I hope they are ready for tomorrow's training.... a 4 miler!!

Any tips for sore legs besides taking an ice bath? Not sure I could handle that - I guess I could go sit in a snowbank for a couple minutes!

Have a great day!!
